Surviving Barcelona on Erasmus
Essential tips to maximize your Erasmus stay in Barcelona — tested by hundreds of students.
The neighborhoods Gràcia, Eixample and Poble Sec are Erasmus favorites. Avoid scams: use Idealista, Spotahome or Facebook Groups "Erasmus Barcelona".
The T-Casual (10 rides) costs €11.35. The T-Jove is perfect for under 25s: unlimited rides in zone 1 for ~€80/month. Bicing (city bikes) is also a great option.
Plan for €800–1200/month. Rent: €500-700 in a shared flat. Groceries at Mercadona. The Erasmus grant typically covers €300–500/month depending on your home country.
Beer costs €2–4. Best happy hours: El Xampanyet (El Born), Bar Marsella, La Pepita. The Barceloneta Boardwalk is perfect for sunset drinks.
Barceloneta, Bogatell, Mar Bella — all free. Park Güell (partial free access), the Boqueria market, and Montjuïc viewpoints are must-sees.
